On Monday, 8th Jan’ 18, Union minister for Science and technology, Harsh Vardhan inaugurated India’s fastest Super computer – Pratyush at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology(IITM), Pune.
This powerful computer will improve India’s peak computing capacity from 1 petaflops to 6.8 petaflops. Petaflop is a measure of processing speed, whereas Flops stand for Floating point operations per second.
Pratyush – India’s fastest super computer is dedicated to the nation and is installed at the High Performance Computing (HPC) facility of the Indian Institute of Tropical meteorology (IITM), Pune.
Pratyush will help the IITM to make more accurate weather forecast and forecasts about Cyclones, High tides, floods and droughts.
